A Dance of Masks is Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteousness’ sixth and final DLC. This means that you probably won’t see any new Archetypes for Pathfinder WOTR in the future, so these are all very special Archetypes. Ranked from worst to best, here are the 11 best new Archetypes in A Dance of Masks DLC for Pathfinder WOTR.
11. Titan Fighter – Fighter
While being able to wield two two-handed weapons at once is a cool concept, compared to the rest of the Archetypes it fails to be interesting or useful. There’s really not much to this Archetype besides the ability to wield two two-handed weapons.
If you love the Fighter class, there are plenty of other Archetypes more worth your time than this one. Better yet, if you’re going into A Dance of Masks for the first time, there are much more powerful Archetypes available at your disposal.
10. Inciter – Skald
The Inciter Archetype depends on taunts and insults to force enemies into a frenzy, which makes them attack recklessly and open their defenses. Once your enemies fall for your tricks, you can finish them off with a backstabbing dagger.
Think of a mix of a Rogue and a Bard. In theory, this is neat, but attacking recklessly isn’t always a safe option. Also, you have to wait until you’re at a much higher level to use inspired rage to aid your companions.
9. Mantis Zealot – Warpriest
The Mantis Zealot Archetype for the Warpriest class has you become a member of the Red Mantis who worships Achaekek, an evil deity. If you think becoming an evil Warpriest sounds like an interesting idea, go for this Archetype.
The Mantis Zealot can summon hordes of flying mantises, and even hide in their swarms. They become even more powerful as they level up to become an unstoppable force with dual serrated blades. It’s certainly a cool Archetype to try out, although it’s not great for players who don’t care about summons.
8. Kinetic Sharpshooter – Kineticist
Anyone looking to deal crazy shots from ranged weapons should choose the Kinetic Sharpshooter Archetype. You’ll be able to stockpile charges in your quiver to not waste time building up force at the start of a battle, allowing you to attack instantly.
Think of this as a Ranger but with upgraded ammo. Kinetic Sharpshooters can apply infusions to their ranged weapons, and only these ranged weapons, leaving you defenseless in melee combat. This is the only downside, but otherwise, your charges can break armor, ricochet against targets, and even ignore resistances.
7. Sable Company Marine – Ranger
Any player who yearns to take to the skies on a flying creature can live out these fantasies as a Sable Company Marine Archetype. This type of Ranger can ride their tamed hippogriff into the sky for mounted combat.
Your griffon can even attack enemies from the sky and dive down onto enemies, knocking them over using their powerful wings. The Sable Company Marine Archetype are experts in aerial combat and are only weak to foes with ranged attacks.
6. Drunken Master – Monk
The Drunken Master Archetype for the Monk class offers you power from being inebriated. Monks are pretty tanky, meaning this Archetype is already strong, but you get your abilities through drinking alcohol.
Drunken Masters can use ki point abilities more frequently and can gain more bonuses based on their intoxication level. At lower levels, you may struggle to obtain enough alcohol to keep your buffs up, but at higher levels, you can produce alcohol yourself. Essentially, Drunken Masters are going to be poor from buying so much alcohol at early levels, but you’ll have an easier time at higher levels.
5. Bloodseeker – Slayer
Although Bloodseekers aren’t exactly vampires, they’re as close as you can get. This Slayer Archetype was inspired by the anime series Vampire Hunter D, which makes sense when you learn about the Bloodseeker’s ability to perform critical bite attacks and transform into a raven form.
Bloodseekers have access to a bevy of unique abilities separate from Slayer talents which you can expend using blood points. You’ll gain these points by performing actions such as bite attacks or sucking blood from enemies. This is the perfect Archetype for vampire lovers.
4. Living Grimoire – Inquisitor
The Living Grimoire Archetype for the Inquisitor class mixes a fighter and spellcaster into something unique. You possess a special weapon which is a large sacred tome that you can use to “instruct demons on the path to truth”, as stated in the archetypes post on Steam.
The cool thing about the Living Grimoire Archetype is its final ability which is so powerful to the point that it’s capable of instantly killing an enemy. Although you have to wait till you’re at a much higher level to unlock this ability, the Living Grimoire is still an incredible Archetype in combat.
3. Chelaxian Diva – Bard
New to the Bard class is the Chelaxian Diva Archetype that pushes Bards to become more aggressive than normal. Chelaxian Divas can both strengthen allies with buffs and deal damage to enemies by bursting their eardrums.
This archetype reminds me of a banshee, especially since you can learn to replicate a banshee scream at higher levels. Your screams can wither enemies with the damage that you deal, allowing you to be an incredible fighter and also a support character.
2. Magic Deciever – Arcanist
One of the most unique Archetypes so far in Pathfinder WOTR is the Magic Deceiver, which is an Arcanist Archetype. Magic Deceivers have been in the works for a long time, and finally, you can combine spells to create your unique spellbook of abilities.
You gain the ability to fuse two spells to combine their effects. While you cannot receive bonus spells from ability scores, nor can you add spells from other classes, you can create fused spells, name them, and log them in your book. Just think of the combinations you could create!
1. Bladebound – Magus
Bladebound is another special Archetype for the Magus class that brings your weapon to life. Inspired by Alucard from the Castlevania show, you can make a pact with a sentient Black Blade. Once bound together, your Black Blade grows stronger as you level up.
At a certain point, Black Blade will become so powerful that it’ll act on its own and you won’t need to hold it in your hand. You can swap to a new weapon while also having your Black Blade serve you in combat. Not only that, but it’ll still protect you in battle if you lose consciousness, making Bladebound the best Archetype in the Dance of Masks DLC.
