Harry's 'olive branch' to William on UK visit as he makes 'sad' family admission (2025)

Prince Harry reportedly extended an "olive branch" to his brother Prince William during his brief visit to the UK, a source close to the separated Royal has claimed. The Duke of Sussex is said to have made a conscious decision to stay near the future king at Coworth Park hotel in Ascot, Berkshire, last week.

During his two-day High Court hearing in London over a dispute to reinstate his police protection, Harry notably chose to lodge at the Berkshire hotel, which is less than a 20-minute drive from William and Kate's home, Adelaide Cottage, on the Windsor Castle estate.

The Berkshire hotel holds sentimental value for the brothers as it was where William spent the night before Harry's marriage to Meghan Markle in 2018. A close friend of Harry's suggested that his choice of accommodation "was relayed to Wills and Kate through security services" and "was seen as a potential olive branch to make peace after so many years estranged," as reported by The Express.

The insider indicated that Harry had hoped to mend his tense relationship with William during his fleeting return home. The source added: "Harry really is keen to try to salvage some kind of relationship or even reopen dialogue. They have not had any full-length conversations or discussions since they had some time together around the Queen's passing.

"And some of us saw Harry being so close to his brother as a gesture of saying 'hey I am here, close by... what about us trying to work things out'? The sad thing is that many of us, within Harry's friends' circles, feel he wants to somehow make peace and return to talking terms.", reports the Mirror.

But despite this, Harry couldn't manage a meeting with William or King Charles during his four-day visit to the UK, leaving mates to speculate why the "olive branch" didn't lead anywhere.

The pal shared: "The problem is that so much has been said by him and his wife on TV – and with Netflix for millions of dollars in profit – which can never be taken back.

"While it felt the right thing for Harry to do to cleanse his soul of his darkest feelings on life in the monarchy, his brother and father didn't share the same outlook.

"Their perspective is firm that too many lines were crossed and there's no chance of going back to the way things were ten years back."

Still, Harry’s trip to Berkshire wasn't entirely for naught as he caught up with buddies from his Army days and school.

Prince Harry flew into London last Sunday to take on the government's decision to strip his entitlement to police protection. He told the court that his family faces significant risks and needs security while in the UK.

The Duke of Sussex allegedly argued that his protective services were removed as part of an attempt to prevent him and Meghan from stepping away from Royal duties.
