Possibly, Joan and Chock are trying to convince themselves that everything is okay. They're desperately trying to avoid the fate that befell The Golden Bachelor stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist.
Recently, Joan and The Golden Bachelorette's Chock Chapple did the whole PR thing, talking to Bustle about how great their romance is. This is par for the course, but it's a little over the top. Can any relationship really be this awesome? That's up for debate. At this stage, they're adjusting to off-camera life, and that almost always brings complications.
As per the interview, Joan said that they're blending their families, and called their respective kids "friends." Meanwhile, Chock humblebragged, describing himself as, "trainable." While the two do seem compatible, clues indicate that they might not be as happy as they pretend to be.

They're Laying It On Too Thick
Is It All For Show?
Chock and Joan may be in love, but they're clearly thinking about their images too. In their interview, which was basically a puff piece, they talked about the wonders of their relationship, possibly glossing over a lot of issues. Chock's a controlling guy, and maybe Joan is starting to get tired of that. Also, before Chock put a ring on it, she seemed interested in Pascal Ibgui, who dumped her. That's probably going to create some bad blood.
They don't dwell on these things, and they probably shouldn't, but that doesn't mean that they're not real. This stuff really happened.

Chock got territorial during a group bowling date, really staking his claim. Joan didn't appear to mind, but other people noticed his creepy monitoring. It wasn't exactly a secret. As per a Glamour interview, Pascal was offended, calling the insurance pro Chock a:
"stalker."
However, he later apologized, as per Cosmopolitan. The initial "stalker" comment was a bit too extreme, but Pascal felt that Chock was way too possessive, wanting to completely control a woman, rather than letting her make decisions on her own. Pascal also said that producers pressured him to end things with Joan, which makes it seem like he's had second thoughts. All of this drama is going to impact a relationship, especially when it's so new.

If Joan and Chock are for real, they may want to tone it down a bit. The whole "hearts and flowers" thing is cute, but it can really backfire. When they're going out of their way to appear ecstatic, and problems crop up later, as they're bound to, it's going to be hard to change direction. In fact, the pressure of hiding their obvious relationship issues may end up leading to a messy and embarrassing divorce. It'll be like Gerry and Theresa all over again.
Why Would The Couple Choose A "Showmance"?
Maybe They Love The Perks Of Fame
Joan is radiant in the Instagram post above, all dressed up and talking about how she said "yes" to Chock. He's wearing a good suit and the two appear to be extremely happy. However, all of this is so public. They're putting on a show, sharing their great love with their followers. This is something that people involved in showmances do.

They go out of their way to make their love lives look perfect, and often, behind the scenes, it's not so rosy.
If Joan and Chock made a deal to stay together for fame, they may not be as in love as they pretend to be. They could be going through the motions, relentlessly trying to convince their fans that it's true love. Eventually, the pressures of pretending might get to them, making them question what they are doing. No one wants to fake a relationship forever. That's why showmances never, ever last.

Yes, it could all be real. Joan is a Capricorn and Chock's a Virgo. This is an excellent astrological match. The two Earth signs have similar drives. However, one of those shared motivations is financial security. So, there's always the chance that cold, hard cash is the reason why they're so demonstrative online, and really selling their romance to their audience. Yes, both appear to be financially comfortable but they may see real financial possibilities here. Chock's used to selling insurance, and very successfully, and he's more than savvy enough to know that fame can be leveraged into profits.
So, The Golden Bachelorette celebs Joan and Chock might want to consider sharing some of their darker moments, along with all their happy experiences. Real relationships aren't happy every day - they have ups and downs. If they keep pushing this late-in-life fairy tale narrative, it may end up more like a Brothers Grimm nightmare.
